The stock intake path is blocked by the grill rib, air has to abruptly change direction before it makes its way to the stock inlet opening. This causes unwanted pressure drop.

The BIG MOUTH intake allows the air to be guided through the intake path with minimal loss in total pressure and velocity, and optimum flow diffusion (expansion) from the grill area into the stock inlet path. Keeping the air moving at high speed all the way up to your airbox is truest form of ram induction, build some pressure!
